Mage Filly

Mage – Tiznow Filly

Hip 290 | Chestnut Filly | Foaled February 18, 2025

This chestnut filly combines the classic dirt performance of Mage, winner of the Kentucky Derby (G1), with the proven stamina and championship influence of Tiznow and an exceptional female family featuring Breeders' Cup champions, Grade 1 winners, and multiple generations of graded stakes success.

Her sire, Mage, earned more than $2.5 million while capturing the 2023 Kentucky Derby (G1) and finishing second in both the Florida Derby (G1) and Haskell Stakes (G1), as well as third in the Preakness Stakes (G1). A son of champion Good Magic and grandson of two-time Horse of the Year Curlin, Mage descends from one of the most successful classic dirt sire lines in American racing. He is also a full brother to Dornoch, winner of the Belmont Stakes (G1), and a half-brother to Grade 1 performer Baeza. His first foals are yearlings in 2026.

Her dam, Sweet Nina, is a daughter of two-time Breeders' Cup Classic (G1) winner Tiznow, one of the most accomplished dirt runners of his generation. Tiznow is widely recognized for transmitting stamina, toughness, and classic-distance ability. Sweet Nina has produced Mystification, a five-time winner with earnings exceeding $114,000, demonstrating the family's ability to produce durable, competitive runners.

Her second dam, Trappings, is a daughter of Seeking the Gold and the dam of She Be Wild, the champion two-year-old filly of 2009. She Be Wild captured the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies (G1) and Arlington-Washington Lassie Stakes (G3), earning more than $1.3 million in just seven starts. The family continues to produce high-level runners, including Twinkle Town, winner of the Saratoga Special Stakes (G2), and Emerging Market, winner of the Louisiana Derby (G2) with earnings exceeding $753,000.

The pedigree's depth extends through her third dam, Duck Trap, a multiple stakes winner by Triple Crown champion Affirmed who earned more than $300,000. Her fourth dam, Lilya's for Real, established an exceptionally productive female family that includes Portcullis, a Canadian champion with earnings exceeding $660,000; Carson Hollow, winner of the Prioress Stakes (G1) with earnings exceeding $500,000; and Penn Fifty Three, a multiple stakes winner with earnings exceeding $372,000. Additional graded stakes performers include Part the Seas, Chublicious, and Chub Wagon, further demonstrating the family's remarkable depth and consistency.

With Mage's Kentucky Derby-winning credentials, Tiznow's proven influence as a source of classic stamina, and a distinguished female family highlighted by Breeders' Cup champion She Be Wild, this filly represents an exciting combination of speed, stamina, precocity, durability, and exceptional pedigree depth. Foaled in Arkansas, she also offers the added distinction of Arkansas-bred eligibility, complementing a pedigree rich in championship performance and classic dirt racing potential.
