Gunite Filly

---

Hip 1 | Bay Filly | Foaled January 10, 2025

This bay filly combines the exceptional speed and brilliance of Gunite, a multiple Grade 1 winner and accomplished son of Gun Runner, with the proven influence of City of Light and a distinguished female family featuring multiple Grade 1 winners and leading sire Constitution.

Her sire, Gunite, earned more than $2.2 million while winning nine races, including the Forego Stakes (G1), Hopeful Stakes (G1), and Amsterdam Stakes (G2). A son of Horse of the Year Gun Runner, Gunite demonstrated exceptional precocity, speed, and durability, competing at the highest level from two through four. He also finished second in the Breeders' Cup Sprint (G1) and H. Allen Jerkens Memorial Stakes (G1). His first foals are yearlings in 2026.

Her dam, Quantum Light, is a daughter of City of Light, the multiple Grade 1-winning son of Quality Road who earned more than $5.6 million, including victories in the Pegasus World Cup Invitational (G1) and Breeders' Cup Dirt Mile (G1). This filly is her first foal. The combination of Gun Runner and City of Light brings together two highly regarded sources of elite dirt racing ability.

Her second dam, Baffling, is a daughter of Graydar and a half-sister to several accomplished graded stakes winners. The female family becomes particularly distinguished through her third dam, Baffled, a stakes-placed daughter of Distorted Humor who produced Constitution, a two-time Grade 1 winner of the Florida Derby and Donn Handicap with earnings exceeding $1 million. Constitution has subsequently established himself as a leading sire. Baffled also produced Boynton, winner of the Superlative Stakes (G2), and Jacaranda, winner of the Tempted Stakes (G3).

The pedigree's depth extends through her fourth dam, Surf Club, whose offspring include Emcee, winner of the Forego Stakes (G1) with earnings approaching $480,000, and Surfer, a multiple stakes winner with earnings exceeding $440,000. The extended family also includes Awesome Humor, winner of the Spinaway Stakes (G1), and New York Thunder, a Grade 2 winner.

With Gunite's elite sprinting credentials, City of Light's proven Grade 1 quality, and a deep female family featuring leading sire Constitution and numerous graded stakes winners, this filly represents an exciting combination of precocity, speed, athleticism, and exceptional pedigree depth.
